Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how CoParent.ly (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you use the CoParent.ly iPhone® and iPad® app and this website (together, the “Services”).

The short version: CoParent.ly is a single-user, local-first documentation app. Your timeline stays on your device and, when you enable sync, in your private iCloud®. We do not operate a cloud database of your events, messages, or attachments. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your timeline to train AI models.

CoParent.ly is not a shared household app. Your co-parent does not see your entries through CoParent.ly unless you export and share them yourself.

2. Information you create in the app

When you use CoParent.ly, you may enter or import:

• Event titles, notes, dates, categories, and tone labels
• Photos, screenshots, PDFs, and other attachments (including messages or media you choose to import)
• Optional location data when you choose to add it
• Optional copies of events you import from Apple Calendar
• Optional co-parent display name and parenting-plan preferences
• Child names or labels you choose to record
• Child expense entries and related notes
• Audit / History records and optional Time stamp anchors you create

This content is your data. You control what you record, export, share, and delete. CoParent.ly does not require a CoParent.ly account, username, or password.

3. Where your data is stored

On your device. CoParent.ly stores your timeline locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

In your iCloud account (when sync is on). If you are signed into iCloud and sync is enabled, your timeline syncs to your private iCloud container through Apple’s CloudKit service. CoParent.ly does not operate a separate account system or company-hosted store of your timeline.

Anyone with access to your Apple ID — including through Family Sharing settings or a shared device passcode — may be able to reach synced data. Protect your Apple ID and device. Turning on Apple’s Advanced Data Protection (when available) can further limit who can read iCloud data; Apple’s documentation explains how that works.

4. What we do not collect

Unlike many shared co-parenting products, CoParent.ly does not:

• Collect phone numbers, emails, or profile photos for a CoParent.ly account
• Host household messages, shared calendars, or co-parent-visible expense ledgers on our servers
• Upload your timeline to CoParent.ly-operated servers for storage or AI training
• Sell your personal information
• Use third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs in the app
• Send SMS marketing or account-verification texts

Our App Store® privacy label reflects that we do not collect data for tracking or analytics through the app. Optional features you enable (such as location on an event, or Time stamp via DigiCert) are disclosed in this policy and should be answered carefully in Apple’s App Privacy questionnaire.

5. How information is used

Information you enter is used only to provide the features you use on your device, for example:

• Showing your Home calendar, Timeline, Insights, and Settings
• Generating PDF exports, attachment folders, and backups when you request them — these are created on your device
• Optional on-device OCR and AI suggestions
• Optional reminders you enable
• Optional Time stamp anchoring (see section 7)

We do not use your timeline content for advertising or to build profiles about you on CoParent.ly servers — because that content is not stored on CoParent.ly servers. Report generation does not upload your timeline to a CoParent.ly server.

6. Processing on your device

OCR. When you import images or PDFs, text recognition may run on your device using Apple’s Vision framework.

AI Suggestions (optional). When enabled in Settings → AI, CoParent.ly may use Apple’s on-device intelligence (Apple Intelligence™ / Foundation Models when available) to suggest categories, summaries, or tone labels. This processing happens on your device. You can turn AI Suggestions off at any time.

7. The one internet exception: Time stamp (optional)

Time stamp is the only CoParent.ly app feature that contacts an outside service for your records. If you turn it on and anchor your records:

• Your device sends a SHA-256 digital fingerprint (cryptographic hash) of your audit ledger and/or a generated Case Binder PDF directly to DigiCert, an independent time-stamping authority (timestamp.digicert.com).
• DigiCert does not receive your event text, notes, photos, attachments, child names, or the readable contents of your exports — only the fingerprint bytes needed for an RFC 3161 time stamp.
• Standard request metadata (such as IP address and request timing) may be logged by DigiCert as part of providing the service, under DigiCert’s own terms and privacy policy. That processing may occur outside your country.

CoParent.ly does not route this request through our servers. You must explicitly enable Time stamp in Settings → Records → Time stamp. A DigiCert stamp proves that a particular fingerprint existed at a stamped time; it does not prove the truth of your entries or guarantee that any court or third party will accept your records.

8. Screenshots, messages, and recordings

You may import screenshots, message threads, photos, PDFs, or other materials into your timeline. That content stays on your device and, when sync is on, in your private iCloud — unless you export or share it.

Laws on recording conversations and capturing communications vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for using CoParent.ly lawfully. CoParent.ly does not obtain consent on your behalf and does not review what you import.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Your co-parenting records are not shared with a co-parent or household through CoParent.ly. Sharing happens only when you export or send files (for example via the iOS share sheet, Mail, or Files).

Anyone you send exports, attachments, or backups to can keep a copy. Backups saved outside the app are not protected by CoParent.ly.

10. Apple services you may use

These providers process information under their own privacy policies when you use their services.

11. Purchases

CoParent.ly+ subscriptions (Monthly or Annual) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may share purchase-related information with us only as needed to validate entitlements (for example, whether a subscription is active). Monthly and Annual unlock the same Plus features while active; Annual differs only by billing period. There is no separate one-time report unlock product.

12. This website

This marketing site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It may store a theme preference (light or dark) in your browser’s localStorage.

The Contact page includes an optional message form. If you use it, we process your name, email address, topic, and message through a Cloudflare Pages Function and send the message by email (via Resend) to support@coparently.io or privacy@coparently.io, depending on the topic you choose. We use that information only to respond to your request. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. You can also email those addresses directly from your own mail app.

Fonts on this site are self-hosted. We do not run third-party advertising pixels on this site. Optional first-party usage analytics are described below and run only after you Accept.

Website analytics

With your consent, this site may collect privacy-conscious usage analytics to understand which pages and calls to action help people evaluate CoParent.ly. Analytics are:

• First-party only — events are sent to our own Cloudflare Pages endpoint and stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine
• Consent-gated — nothing is sent until you Accept; you can Decline or change your choice later via Analytics preferences in the footer
• Not advertising — no ad networks, no cross-site tracking pixels, no session replay, and no keystroke capture

When enabled, we may record event names such as page views, section views, CTA clicks, signup funnel steps, pricing period selection, and optional interest selection (as a category value only). Alongside those events we may store coarse properties such as page path, CTA location, device category, referrer category, campaign code, and hero message variant.

We do not send email addresses, names, free-text form contents, child information, or in-app record details to analytics. Your consent choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage (coparently_analytics_consent). Analytics data is retained according to Cloudflare Analytics Engine retention (typically about 90 days) and used only to improve this website.

Launch list signup

If you join the launch list on this website, we collect:

• Your email address (required)
• An optional primary interest (for example, organizing screenshots, parenting time, expenses, reports, or private documentation)
• Technical request data used for abuse prevention (such as IP address and basic browser metadata forwarded by our host)

We use that information only to send CoParent.ly launch and early-access updates, and to understand which topics interest people on the list. We do not add you to unrelated marketing lists. Launch-list information is not connected to any records inside the CoParent.ly app.

Signups are processed by Buttondown (our email provider) through a server-side function on Cloudflare Pages. The API key is not embedded in the website. Buttondown typically sends a confirmation email (double opt-in); you must confirm before you are fully subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails, or by contacting privacy@coparently.io.

We retain launch-list addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we close the list after launch. Bot protection may include a honeypot field and, when enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile. We do not send your email address to analytics tools.

13. Metadata and safety defaults

By default, CoParent.ly removes GPS location metadata from imported photos unless you turn on Preserve original photo metadata in Settings → Privacy.

CoParent.ly is a documentation tool, not a safety or emergency service. It cannot guarantee privacy against someone who unlocks your device or shares your Apple ID.

14. Retention and deletion

Because your timeline lives on your device and (optionally) your iCloud:

• Records remain until you delete them in the app, remove the app, or clear related iCloud data.
• You can delete individual events or all data in Settings → Data.
• Deleting the app removes local data on that device; iCloud copies may remain until you remove them through Apple’s iCloud settings or by clearing data while signed in.
• Emails you send us are retained only as needed to respond and operate support, then deleted or archived according to ordinary business practice.

We do not maintain a separate CoParent.ly server copy of your timeline that we can delete on request — because we do not hold that copy. If you need help removing local or iCloud data, contact support@coparently.io.

15. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. For CoParent.ly:

• You can turn AI Suggestions, iCloud sync, or Time stamp on or off in Settings.
• You can export PDFs, attachments, and .coparently-backup files.
• You can delete events or all app data yourself.
• You can manage App Store purchases and subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The personal information we may hold ourselves is typically limited to emails you send us (support or privacy) and, if you join the launch list, your signup email and optional interest (processed by Buttondown as described in section 12). Your timeline is not stored on CoParent.ly servers.

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA (for example, to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights). Because we do not maintain a CoParent.ly server copy of your timeline, most timeline access and deletion is performed by you in the App or via Apple iCloud. To exercise rights regarding information we hold (such as support email), contact privacy@coparently.io. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.

16. Children’s privacy

CoParent.ly is intended for adults (18+) documenting co-parenting. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information about children that appears in the app is entered by you (a parent or guardian) for your own documentation. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us directly (for example by email), contact privacy@coparently.io and we will delete it.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app or website changes. We will post the revised version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted in an app update or on the website.
