1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, accessing, using, or purchasing CoParent.ly (the “App”) or this website (together, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Purchases through the Apple App Store® are also subject to Apple’s media services and App Store terms.

2. Description of service

CoParent.ly is a single-user, local-first documentation app for iPhone® and iPad®. It helps you:

  • Log Exchanges, Uploads, notes, and related attachments
  • Browse a private Timeline, Home calendar view, and Insights
  • Track child expenses you enter for your own records
  • Export PDF reports and backups when you choose
  • Optionally use on-device OCR, AI suggestions, reminders, and Time stamp

CoParent.ly is not a law firm, legal advisor, court filing service, shared household messenger, shared calendar with your co-parent, payment processor, or mediation service. Nothing in the App creates an attorney–client or similar professional relationship.

3. Eligibility

The Services are intended for adults (18 years or older) documenting co-parenting. If you use the App to record information about children, you do so as a parent or guardian for your own documentation.

4. No CoParent.ly account

There is no CoParent.ly login, username, or password. Your data is stored on your device and, when you enable sync, in your Apple iCloud® account. You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your Apple ID and device secure
  • Controlling who can unlock your device or access your iCloud
  • Backing up or exporting data you want to keep

Deleting the App from a device does not cancel an App Store subscription. Manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

CoParent.ly offers in-app purchases through Apple:

  • CoParent.ly+ — auto-renewing subscription (Monthly or Annual) for Insights, reminders, and related premium features. Annual also unlocks all report formats while the subscription is active. Monthly does not include report formats.
  • Full Export — one-time non-consumable purchase that unlocks all report formats permanently, regardless of subscription status.

Prices are shown in the App at purchase and may vary by region. Free features (capture, browse, and limited export options) remain available without a purchase.

5.1 Billing

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • Apple processes payment; we do not receive your card details.

5.2 Auto-renewal

  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

5.3 Managing and canceling

Manage or cancel in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions (or the equivalent Apple ID subscriptions screen). Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.

5.4 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple under App Store policies. We do not process subscription or IAP refunds ourselves.

5.5 Free trials

If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Unused trial time may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, as described by Apple at purchase.

6. Your content and lawful use

You retain ownership of content you enter or import. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the App on your device (for example, to store, display, export, or process that content locally or via Apple services you enable).

You are responsible for lawful use of screenshots, messages, audio, photos, and other materials you add. Laws on recording conversations and capturing communications vary by jurisdiction. Do not use CoParent.ly to violate privacy, copyright, or other laws.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services in violation of applicable law
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the App except as allowed by law
  • Misrepresent CoParent.ly exports as something we certified, filed, or verified beyond what the App actually does
  • Use the Services to harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Attempt to access another person’s device, Apple ID, or iCloud data without authorization

8. Documentation and expense disclaimer

CoParent.ly is a personal record-keeping tool. Entries, expenses, Insights totals, and exports reflect what you logged. We do not verify accuracy, do not process payments between co-parents, and do not resolve disputes.

Exports are based on your entries. We do not guarantee any legal outcome, admissibility, or acceptance by any court, mediator, school, or attorney. Optional Time stamp and integrity features help you check your own history; they are not a guarantee of legal authenticity or admissibility.

Labels such as Case Binder, exhibit, Chronology Report, and Integrity describe how CoParent.ly organizes your records for sharing. They are not court filings, certified exhibits, notarization, or a determination that any record is admissible.

The App is not legal, financial, tax, medical, or counseling advice. Expense and Insights totals are not tax advice, child-support advice, or court-ordered timeshare calculations.

9. Intellectual property

The App, website, name, logos, and original design and software are owned by CoParent.ly or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of our IP to you. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the App except as allowed by the App Store license and applicable law.

10. Third-party services

The Services may rely on Apple (iCloud, StoreKit, Notifications, Photos, Calendar, and related frameworks) and, if you enable Time stamp, DigiCert for cryptographic time stamps of fingerprints only. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for outages or policy changes of third parties.

11. Website

This website provides product information and contact options. It does not sell subscriptions directly; purchases are made in the App via Apple. Site content may change without notice.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, perfect iCloud sync, error-free OCR or AI suggestions, or that exports will meet any third party’s requirements.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoParent.ly and its operator, directors, employees, partners, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your access to or use of (or inability to use) the Services, including from data you share with others or from third-party services (Apple, DigiCert, or others).

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for claims relating to the Services is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid for the App via Apple in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50), except where prohibited by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where such limitation is not allowed).

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify CoParent.ly and its operator against claims arising from your unlawful use of the Services, content you import or share, or your breach of these Terms — including claims related to recording or capturing communications without required consent.

15. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and cancel subscriptions through Apple. We may stop offering the App or refuse further use if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Provisions that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, indemnity, and limitation of liability) survive termination.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will try to provide reasonable notice (for example via the website or an app update). Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services and cancel any subscription through Apple.

17. Governing law; disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer-protection laws of your place of residence may still apply.

Except where prohibited by applicable consumer-protection law, courts located in California have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms. Consumers may have a right to bring claims in their local courts; nothing here waives rights that cannot be waived.

18. Severability; entire agreement; Apple

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services, and supersede prior understandings on that subject. Apple’s App Store terms also apply to purchases and licensed use of the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the App Store license provisions applicable to the App and may enforce them against you.
